  Can I use more than one Avis discount code?

  Unfortunately not. You can usually only use one Avis discount code at a time.

  Is there an Avis student discount code?

  Whilst there doesn't appear to be a dedicated Avis student discount at the moment, students can still save with our fantastic Avis vouchers and deals.

  Does Avis offer NHS discount codes?

  How do I book a hire car with Avis?

  You can book a car anywhere in the world, at any time, on the Avis website. Simply enter your location, choose your pick-up point and select a pick-up and drop-off date. You can then choose from a range of cars and vans, including estates and people carriers, at different prices. In the UK, you need to be at least 23 years old and you’ll need to have had a driving licence for at least a year.

  Will my Avis hire car come with a full tank of fuel?

  Yes, all cars come with a full tank. When you make your booking you can choose the Bring Back Full option. This means that you’ll return your car with a full tank so you won’t incur any charges. Alternatively, you can opt for Fuel Upfront, where you pay for a full tank of fuel when you collect your car, so that you don’t have to worry about refuelling at the end of your trip. It’s more expensive to Pay on Return (where you pay for the fuel that you’ve used when you return the car), unless you choose the E-Z Fuel option. This means that you can pay a flat fee and Avis will take care of refuelling on trips of less than 75 miles.

  What can I get out of the Avis Preferred membership?

  In short, priority treatment and loads of rewards! If you travel and hire cars a lot and need to get going quickly, you’ll like benefits such as pre-prepared paperwork, a convenient parking space, access to priority counters and no signature required. You can also earn points and receive money off vouchers. The more you use Avis Preferred, the better the rewards get - how does a free weekend hire in Europe sound?

  What do I need to collect my hire car?

  All you’ll need if you’ve pre-booked is your driving licence, credit card and proof of any discount such as your Avis Preferred membership card. As a back up, bring proof of address too such as a recent utility bill.

  When will Avis charge me an extra day?

  Car rentals are based on a 24 hour period. So if you return your car within the final 24 hour period, you’ll still be charged for a full day as the return falls within that time. You can be up to 29 minutes late returning your vehicle without charge but after this grace period, you’ll be charged another 24 hour rental period, as well as a late return fee. If you know you’re going to be late, it’ll be cheaper to call the hire station and extend the rental period if possible.

  If I am entitled to a free upgrade, how do I get it?

  What a great perk! If your upgrade is the result of your Avis Preferred tier then you shouldn't have to do anything, it will appear on the app. If you need to redeem a voucher then follow the voucher redemption process when making a booking by following the instructions listed on the Avis voucher itself.
